s one of the most monumental and interesting complexes of Roman buildings. This is the magnificent villa constructed by \b \cf4 \ATXht157 Hadrian\b0 \cf0 \ATXht0 between 117 and 138 AD only two hours ride from the capital of the Empire. It was probably
designed by the emperor himself, whom we know from the sources to have been a capable architect. It is an imperial residence resembling a small city and covering an area of about 120 hectares with numerous buildings. \par
